Gnangara is a semi-rural suburb located in the northern part of the Perth metropolitan area in Western Australia. Positioned approximately 25 kilometers from the Perth central business district, Gnangara sits to the northwest of Ellenbrook and is bordered by suburbs including Wangara, Landsdale, and Jandabup. The suburb is part of the City of Wanneroo local government area and is distinguished by its proximity to large tracts of natural bushland, such as the Gnangara-Moore River State Forest and the Gnangara Pine Plantation, which play a significant role in the local environment and supply to the Perth region’s water resources.

Demographically, Gnangara is characterized by a low population density in comparison to more urbanized Perth suburbs. Much of the land in Gnangara is utilized for horticulture, small-scale agriculture, and rural residential properties, with parcels of land typically being larger than standard residential blocks found in suburban Perth.
