This also a common dispute that, if necessary, we can help resolve. When a person is not the legal owner of a piece of land and occupies it against the owners will for a period of 12 years or more, they are known to be adversely possessing that land and can apply to get the certificate of title to be in their name. To achieve this however, the person must satisfy certain characteristics which have to be proven in their case. We work to prove these characteristics are met if applying for adverse possession is desired or they are not met, in the case of a legal owner of the land.
